Let's help Reborn Church in Chicago fill their pantry with food and school supplies! All donations can be brought to the church the weekends of July 18/19 or July 25/26. The team is hoping to take a trailer-full of food to Chicago on July 27.
Email from Global Missions from June 15:
The Covid19 pandemic has had a deeply negative impact on the people with whom Curtis and Michelle Thompson work in Garfield Park, Chicago -- a very poor inner-city area of Chicago. School children did not receive the same educational benefits (like Chromebooks, etc.) that higher income area children received and have not had any schooling since the public schools closed in March. Therefore, the Thompsons are lining up five children’s educational programs where these poverty-level children will be tutored one-on-one, three days a week during the month of July in an outside setting to get the kids caught up with their schooling. They will also be feeding them meals during those days.
Curtis and Michelle are also planning on hosting two “Pop-up Pantries” in June and July, where area residents can come to an outdoor tent setting and receive much needed grocery items. There will also be Christian literature available and church members available to pray with anyone who wishes .
The needs of the people continue, despite pandemics, protests, and riots. Please remember the Thompsons in your prayers as they work in these difficult times.
